Summer Melts into Fall

A: After heavy reprimands from several followers, we thought we'd better get a blog update in before the holiday season hits.  Summer finished up spectacularly, school has begun for me and the twins, ArtPrize 2010 came and went, and Halloween snuck up really fast.  We've got two weekends left before the holiday season consumes us for about 8 weeks straight.
E: We don't need you anymore Daddy.  Well, except maybe to drive the boat.

R: Romaniski's my name and jumpin's my game.

A: I would help, but I can't reach the pedals.

A: You can do it Daddy.

E: I'm not waiting any longer.  You're too slow Daddy.

Little known fact: Picasso started by repainting the merry-go-round at his Grandpa's cottage.

R: My expressiveness knows no bounds.  My wardrobe is my canvas.  Addy's too.

A:  I'm studying for the bar exam.

Seeds for life-changing decisions being planted.  Clover Bar pizza picnic at the beach in GH.

Running wild at "the big beach".

First shot in the family sunglasses modelling expose'.

Pondering lots of concerning questions.

Now I remember why Coast Guard parade is worth walking to.

" 'Semper Paratus' is our guide, our faith and glory too.
To fight and save or fight and die, Aye Coast Guard, we're all for you."

Our Chicago friends, the Laureys, returned for their annual August visit to the cottage.

Solo surfboarding.  Again, Daddy, you are now deemed unnecessary.

The two minutes per day where we can't hear him talking.

 R: Just call me Aquaman.

A: Go ahead and try to say no.

 E: What?

A: Go back Daddy, I changed my mind.

E: If we don't stand here, the door will blow right open.

Camping at Smithyard State Park.  Site fees were reasonable.

R: Don't move.

 R: You call that big?

Preschool field trip to GR Children's Museum.

A: So if you're Curious George, how big is the man with the yellow hat?

E: Great, now my hair smells like bananas.

Much like the guards at Buckingham Palace, firemen are known for their stoic, expressionless, unflappable demeanor.

E: Surface tension is the key Daddy.  Watch and learn.

R: Next, engage the vortex protecting force field and don't forget to close your eyes.  I can't stress that point enough.  And then that's it.  I'll see you in the future.

Anniversary trip to Traverse City.  Winery #1 - learned which wines I didn't like the most and the ones I didn't like the least.
Winery #2.  Best decor and signage.

Found something worth taking seconds on.  Hot pepper jelly.

Winery #3.  Interesting and educating tour.  I'm so old.

Our first foray into the world of real sushi at Red Ginger.  Awesome.

Keeping everyone up to date on the weekend play by play whether you wanted to know or not.

 Clever urinal art at Pearls.

Cajun-inspired crawfish dip at Pearls.  Worth the wait.

Sleeping Bear dunes at Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive

Ran down and walked up the dune.  Doing our part to promote erosion in direct violation of the posted signs.  We are such rebels.

Gutting our harvest of Meijer pumpkins.

Gene Simmons awaits the cleaning of her pumpkin.

R: Make mine look like this!

 E: I want a happy pumpkin.

 Finished products on display.
Superman, Ariel, and Aurora (Sleeping Beauty).

A: Keep following us to our next adventures.
