A day in the life....

Happy New Year!

Now that things are settling down and the excitement of the hospital and homecoming has waned, people may be wondering what it is like at home. The twins have moved into their nursery, making our sleep much easier to attain and making the whole process more or less doable. Yes, there are twice as many diapers and twice as many bottles but it is balanced by twice as much entertainment and joy. Here is a glimpse into the daily ongoings....

8 feedings per day x 2 kids + Pumped milk bottles + mixing bottles = Lots of bottles

We have been very fortunate to have friends and family and church people bringing us food, food and more food. Lasagna is the overwhelming favorite dish to bring. We've decided to build a small addition to the house using lasagna dishes. If my calculations are correct, we can put on an additional 1800 square feet. Recently, Aunt Katie and Uncle Jeff came over with a garlic shrimp pasta which is quickly ascending the charts as one of our favorite meals. Evidently, good food is the key to penetrating Dad's premie fortress of solitude as you'll see below.

Aunt Katie and Uncle Jeff enjoy the first non-grandparent holding session. That's right folks. Are you a sibling of the twins' parents? Married to a sibling? Or are you just an exceptional cook? The After Dinner entertainment:
The twins are very appreciative of all the work we do for them. So, typically, after having a nice family dinner of milk, formula and lasagna, the kids do a series of variety show acts for us. Roman usually starts the evening with his many animal noise impersonations. He can do a goat, rooster, a hyena and he's dabbling with alpaca. We're not sure what an alpaca sounds like, but we're pretty sure that with all the noises he makes, at least one of them sounds like an alpaca. Following the voice impersonations, the two join up for a tap routine...

"Overture, light the lights, this is it, we'll hit the heights. Oh the heights we'll hit! On with the show this is it!"

Next Roman recites his favorite lines from various epic war films. Glory, Platoon, Saving Private Ryan, etc.

"Sir, yes Sir!"

Eden then moves into her 1970's dance routine. Here she is performing a number from Saturday Night Fever.

Eat your heart out, John Travolta.

Finally, the two combine their skills to perform a polished syncronized swimming routine.

Cue the music: "It's the eye of the tiger, it's the thrill of the fight.." Cut. Cut. Roman, you're looking the wrong way. We've been over this a thousand times. And no alpaca noises during the number.
